TPS3813K33-EP: TPS3813 PROGRAMMABLE WINDOW-WATCHDOG BY USING AN EXTERNAL CAPACITOR SETTING.

Part Number: TPS3813K33-EP

Excuse me,

My customer’s WDT is connected to an external capacitor.

(1)After a formula calculation, assuming: t-window = 40 sec, t-boundary = 1 (high: 1 sec, low: 39 sec), if the actual measurement results, the signal is high: 1sec, low: 1sec, that is, a value that is not calculated according to the formula. Can the watchdog IC operate normally for a long time? What kind of abnormal conditions?

(2)If external capacitor is use 100nF, will have any risks for future?

  • Hi Kevin,

    For question #1:

I am confused with your t-window values

    (high: 1sec, low:39 sec)

    Did you mean 39 ms?

Also, I am not sure how you can measure a t-window of: (high:1 sec low:1 sec).

    For question #2,

The datasheet specifically mentions the range of external capacitor needs to be 155pF to 63nF.  Using a larger value of capacitor may not give you the t-window results that you are seeking for.
