TPS650330Q1EVM: TPS6503xx-Q1_GUI/ver/1.0.0/ - Could not launch TI Cloud Agent

Part Number: TPS650330Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BOOSTXL-TPS65033, USB2ANY, TPS650330-Q1

Hello,

in order to work with TPS650330Q1EVM I installed TI Cloud Agent as an administrator.

First of all nothing happens because jumper J19 has been missed ...

Then the GUI always stopps with:

Could not launch TI Cloud Agent: Failed to start TICloudAgent: Specified native messaging host not found..

May be GUI is started as normal user ...

As a work around an addition to registry is proposed .. I am not familiar with that ...

Is there any other solution?

regards

Torsten

  • Hi Torsten,

My apologies if you received an EVM with no jumper populated on J19. I will work with our manufacturer to ensure this does not happen again in future.

First, please make sure you are using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as your web browser when installing the TI Cloud Agent browser extension. If you are, it is sometimes possible that the extension does not install or work properly due to security measures on company networks. In this case, one workaround is to download the GUI for offline operation as described in the BOOSTXL-TPS65033 User's Guide, section 3.1.2:

    Thanks,

  • Hi Gerard,

sorry, I was a couple of days out of office.

Thanks for your hints. I did as proposed. GUI works now - fine - but may be it is not a software problem.

I can't get a hardware connection: "Connected to USB2ANY Controller, but failed to connect to device usb2any on I2C @0x60".

I don't know where to change I2C addresses on hardware?

    Regards

    Torsten

  • Hi Gerard,

    additional to my last post:

There is a problem in device manager with "virtual COM Port".

    There is no valid driver.

    regards

  • Hi Torsten,

Originally you mentioned you are using TPS650330Q1EVM, but this EVM uses an AEVM (Analog EVM) controller. However, your error message is referring to a USB2ANY controller. Usually this error means the connected MCU has the correct firmware, but there is an issue with the hardware setup that causes the PMIC to be unresponsive (see Figure 6-1: TPS650330-Q1 EVM Debugging Flow Chart in the EVM User's Guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slvubi2a/slvubi2a.pdf).

    • Can you please clarify your hardware setup? Are you using a USB2ANY or MSP430 LaunchPad (these would specify a USB2ANY controller) connected to the TPS650330Q1EVM?

Please also post a screenshot of your device manager if possible. Make sure to open your device manager after receiving the "Connected to USB2ANY Controller, but failed to connect to device usb2any on I2C @0x60" error.

    Thanks,

    Gerard

  • Hi Gerald,

thanks for your hint! It is like a deja-vu.

In my testing environment there is an USB2ANY tool connected to a TDA board working in parallel all the time.

After disconnecting USB2ANY and selecting the right serial port (aevm) and right data rate TPS6503xx-Q1 GUI is working properely.

    Thanks once more!

    regards

    Torsten
