TPS2379: Resistance too high

Part Number: TPS2379
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23861,

Hi,

we are using TPS2379 for 802.3at POE PD or our product along with TPS23861 PSE.

TPS23861 PSE works fine, but we are having an issue with TPS2379.

We based our design on TPS2379EVM-106 but once connected TPS23861 will read the resistance at 31k which is outside of the 19-26.5k range.

We are not sure why is it happening as we use a 24.9k detection resistor with a 63.4-ohm classification one.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Regards
Robert

  • Hello,

It could be a number of things - resistance in your rectification bridge, resistance in the cable, resistance in the input filter, resistance in your EMI choke.

The resistor is not integrated so you can change it. Please lower it to get in the acceptable range.

If this post answers your question, please indicate so by marking this thread as resolved. Thank you.
