BQ24075T: BQ24075T minimum charging current exceed the maximum charging current of our battery

Part Number: BQ24075T
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24075, BQ24232

Hello,

I am using the BQ24075T to charge a 320mA/h Lithium-ion Battery PACK whose datasheet states-: "Maximum charging current = 160mA".

The lowest fast charge current setting in the charger is 300mA using Riset = 3kOhm.

Is there a way to set the charging current of the battery to a lower setting without having to limit the input current (Ilim?).

Thank you.

Alberto

  • Hi Alberto,

Is there a specific reason you chose the BQ24075T? Most people who use the BQ24075T are looking to set a specific battery temperature threshold that isn't available on the BQ24075 while also still having that max 1.5A current and SYSOFF functionality. We do only specify that the minimum is 300mA to 1.5A and cannot guarantee accuracy below that range.

If you're willing to, you can look at changing to the BQ24232. It is P2P aside from not having the SYSOFF pin and a current based battery monitoring system. Is there a specific temperature range that you had wanted to set for charging the battery?
