BQ24075: bq24075

Part Number: BQ24075

Hi,

EN1 -0V ,EN2 -5V,TS - 0.6V,-ILIM 1K i had only 1K instead of 1.1K in my stock, R-ISET 866 ohm,\

I wanted to charge my battery at 1A because i am using 2500mah,3.7V and i want to charge my battery in 2.5 hrs only.

Input is supplied from DC power supply Input voltage :5V

My problem is current consumed from DC power supply is never exceeding 0.2A,With this current battery took almost 6 hrs.  to charge from 3V to 3.8V(which is not even full capacity of battery). How to set the fast charge current to 1A, So that my battery will charge in 2.5A considering no Efficiency loss.

If the input voltage supplied is 5.9V current consumption increased from 0.2 to 1A. but the PCB is getting heated up.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Please Help.

Thanks & regards,

P.Akhil

  • Hi,

Can you confirm that the IC is seated properly on the PCB without any shorts? What is the battery voltage when the current increases from 0.2 to 1A?

  • Hi,

I would also like to note that the charge current range for this device is maxed out at 1.5A. If you are looking for a higher charge rate, I can direct the correct support to this issue or recommend a device.

  • Hi,

Yes IC is properly seated and No shorts.

I have connected volt-meter across battery and below are the readings.

Sorry I mentioned "(How to set the fast charge current to 1A, So that my battery will charge in 2.5A considering no Efficiency loss.) 2.5A  previously correct sentence is  "How to set the fast charge current to 1A, So that my battery will charge in 2.5Hrs considering no Efficiency loss"

    PFA

After performing all the above tests  & measuring voltage after disconnecting battery from the circuit voltage across battery is 3.72V.

After reaching 3.7V battery stopped consuming current when input voltage is 5.0/5.1V and consuming 10mA if input voltage is increased above 6V

    Thanks and Regards,

    P.Akhil.

  • Hi,

I have changed R_ISET to 590 ohms and current consumption increased to 0.3 - 0.4A sometimes going to 0.55A,But having ISET resistor 590 Ohm, battery has to charge at 1.5A, But it is not.

    Am i doing anything wrong.

    Please Help.

    Thanks and Regards,

    P.Akhil.

  • Hi P.Akhil,

I notice that you're also using a Fuel Gauge (BQ27441), is this information coming from the gauge? Would you be able to provide waveforms for voltage and current for the input, output, and battery terminals on the BQ24075?

I've also attached your schematic here for easy reference from the other thread.

  • Hello,

I am really sorry i don't have any scope with me to provide you the required waveforms.

No the info is not from Fuel Gauge .

For clarity I am mentioning again I am providing input from Regulated power supply(RPS) and input voltage and current consumption readings are taken from Display of RPS and Voltage across battery is measured by connecting a multimeter across battery terminals.

I am came across a new problem today and I had no clue why I am facing it. Input current is limited to 0.18A under load and no load conditions and I also tried increasing input voltage up to 6.5V but no change..

Earlier current consumption used to increase if connect  load(resistive using some pot) having  battery already connected at the same time.

I suspect that I have switched my RPS ON and OFF multiple times having it connected to my board, may be that resulted in excessive input current in to BQ24075 at the time of switch ON, but IC condition is fine now and it is charging at 0.18A.How to bring IC back to normal condition and what may be the probable reason for this?

    Thanks & Regards,

    P.Akhil.

  • Hi,

Is it possible to verify these values with data shown from the IN_ADC, BAT_ADC and data from the fuel gauge?

  • Hello,

Data from fuel gauge is not accurate so i have not recorded any readings from Gauge and resistors to IN_ADC and BAT_ADC  are not assembled.

So sorry i cant provide any of the required information you have asked for.

    Is the data compulsory?

    Thanks and Regards,

    P.Akhil.

  • Hi P.Akhil,

I will answer your threads in the other thread.
