BQ2024: Programming OTP

Part Number: BQ2024
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2022A

Hi,

I am using bq2024DBZR in my design connected to a host of 3.3V supply. Could not able to write and store data in EPROM, but can  able to read the ID of it and the CRC bits transmitted.

Can you suggest the method to program bq2024.

  • Hello Anjanaa,

Are you following the procedure in the datasheet? Can you show the process you're using and your connections?

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi,

In datasheet it is given that the Vpp (programming voltage) shall be 12V.  Whether that 12V is needed to program BQ2024?

Below is the connection in my design

    With Regards,

    Anjanaa

  • Hello Anjanaa,

Yes, you will need to apply the programming voltage to save data in the chip, the sequence is outlined in the datasheet under WRITE STATUS and WRITE MEMORY.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Thanks Wyatt.

How to apply the programming voltage (12V) to BQ2024 since in our design, it is connected to 3.3V host.

Is there any dedicated circuit or board to perform write operation in BQ2024?

  • Hello Anjanaa,

That should be supplied by your circuit board or during configuration of the memory.

What exactly is the ship being used for in your application?

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi,

We are using the chip to store the device Id and board details in it.

    1. Can you share any application circuit for programming the IC so that it will be helpful for the design?

    2.  Suggest any EVM board to program the chip.

3  As specified in datasheet about "customising the BQ2024 IC based on customer need",  could you customize the IC with the device ID and the required details that we provide for our application.

  • Hello Anjanaa,

Since this device is older it will be harder for us to support fully.

Usually this is used to store data and isn't edited while in the application, and if it is then you will need to supply the Vprog voltage.

To customize the ID you would need to talk with a FAE and our sales team.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Thanks Wyatt.

Is it possible to program bq2024 using bq2022A EVM? Will bq2022A EVM support this chip?

    Regards,

    Anjanaa

  • Hello Anjanaa,

It looks like they have the same pinout, if the other characteristics match for peripherals it should be okay to swap.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
