UA79M: Does this IC work if the large current flow during short period

Part Number: UA79M

Hi team,

I have a question about UA79M.

UA79M max current is 500mA.

Customer make circuit using UA79M. and in their circuit around 1.4A peak current flow during 20ns.

can we assure to work correctly if such current flow in a short period?

best regards,

Takuya

  • Hi Takuya,

In the datasheet, the typical peak current (current limit) is around 0.65A, and having 1.4A for 20ns is faster than the current limit could respond. The current limit loop usually takes a higher than100us to respond. If the 1.4A is just in-rush current, it will have very little risk.
