BQ27621-G1: suitability for a 4.1 v single cell battery

Part Number: BQ27621-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24295, , BQ27421-G1

Dear team,

I am working on a new portable device that will be powered by a single Li-Ion Polymer Battery Pack from Globteck company (PART NO: BL3000F9031781S1PCRV). I have chosen the BQ24295 as power management and battery charger and the BQ27621 as the battery fuel gauge.

Although the battery pack is 4.2v type, its datasheet recommends a maximum charge voltage of 4.1V. My question is if I set a charging voltage of 4.1V on the BQ24295, will the BQ27621 report a correct SoC? Will it report at any time 100% SoC?

Perhaps I should consider another fuel gauge IC. Would be the QB27421 that uses a coulomb counter a better option in this case?

Best regards,

Gonzalo.
