TPS62152: ABS of SW-terminal

Part Number: TPS62152

Hello Experts,

I have question about absolute maximum ratings of SW terminal. My customer is evaluating TPS62152 and  measured SW terminal voltage during light load condition. Please see attached link. He saw high overshoot and undershoot. Are there any concern for reliability point of view? I think undershoot is not an issue but I am not sure about overshoot. Would you please look at the customer measurement result and please give your comments?

  • Fujiwara,

These short duration (<10ns) voltage spikes are not a concern, and if you look at some of our more recent product datasheets you will find that we have added AC Abs Max conditions on the SW pin that better document this.

Even through the -0.54v for ~70ns period is longer these 10ns AC/transient conditions we specify in our newer datasheets, it is still well within the expect operating conditions of the device.  This voltage is the body diode of the internal LS fet conducting in the non-overlap time between the LS fet being disabled and the HS fet being turned on, and the device is designed for this.

    Sincerely,

    -Matt
