BQ24090EVM Compatible Battery?

Hi,

 

I am doing a school project and I am planning on using the BQ24090EVM to charge a battery. In the user guide, under test procedure, it has a 4.2V battery listed. I am having difficulty finding a battery of such nature. Can anyone suggest a battery that will work well with this EVM? Preferably a Li-Ion.

    Hi Adam,

    Try some of the Varta range. I used one recently with a design. Just make sure your charging current is set for the correct battery current.

    4.2V refers to the full charge voltage.  Most, if not all, lithium ion cells charge to 4.2V full charge.  However, they are typically listed as 3.7V batteries because this is the voltage where they spend the majority of their discharge time at.
