CSD95496QVM: Voltage range for the TAO (Temperature Amplifier Output) pin

Hello, I have a question about the TAO (Temperature Amplifier Output) pin. According to the datasheet, the max voltage for this pin can be VDD+0.3V (5.3V).

In my design, the TAO (Temperature Amplifier Output) is fed to an ADC input which is limited to 3.0V. So I am a little concerned that the voltage level is too high for the ADC input.

Hi Alice,

"The max voltage for TAO pin" means to limit the external voltage to be applied to TAO pin to be less than VDD+0.3V.

When certain faults happen, the TAO pin may pull up to 3.3V to flag the fault, while the sourcing current from TAO is up to 1mA typically. You can add resistor-in-series plus Zener diode on ADC input to limit the voltage on ADC input if needed.

It looks like this pin should be used as a fault indication and connected to a GPIO pin instead of an ADC input. What is the fault temperature when it is pull up to 3.3V?

Hi Alice,

The TAO pin will be pulled high if one or more of faults triggered, such as over current, high-side short, or over temp fault.

The over temp protection triggers at typical 165C, with min trigger temp at 150C.
