Hello,

Our customer asked about OCP Hiccup timer definition differences between TPS65235-1 and TPS65235-3.

When he checked the differences between two device in the datasheet, he had a question why TPS65235-3 OFF Time is defined as 233ms/466ms respectively whereas TPS65235-1 OFF time is defined as 128ms/256ms in the datasheet Table 6.

As he well understood the reason ON Timer larger but he needs to know why we also define OFF Timer define larger too.

The larger ON time would make IC's temperature high when driving larger Cload(OC limit current to drive Cload), if it triggers OCP, the larger OFF time can make IC's temperature more lower, so this is a temperature consideration.

Thank you for your feedback though, the customer still has a question how we could define 233ms/466ms OFF time, even he understood IC temperature makes lower during OFF time.

Could you let him know more detailed quantitative explanation.

There is no quantitative calculation for the hiccup OFF time, I remember when we did this spin device, we did a test on FIBed IC, 466mS OFF time could make the IC temperature lower than 40C when output is hard short.
