TPS2115: Manual and autoswitching control of TPS2115

Part Number: TPS2115

Hello,

I am interested in using TPS2115 for a design but I am not sure if it is suitable for both manual/autoswitching. Would it be possible to have both mecanisms with this device? I wonder if I can control the switch between supplies as suggested in the datasheet but, in case there is a fault in the selected supply, the device will automatically switch to the other supply.

Best regards,

Jesus

  • Hi Jesus,

A setup could be made in such a way that ties D0 to IN1 through a resistor divider. In this state IN1 and IN2 will be compared with one another as usual. The resistor divide could be setup so as to pull D0 low whenever IN1 goes below a certain voltage and in this state (D1 and D0 low) the device will select IN2.

But to switch from a true manual mode to autoswitching mode, both D0 and D1 need to be controlled externally. In the case of a fault, the controller need to pull D1 low and pull D0 high but in normal manual operation, D0 needs to be low and D1 is the source selector.
