TPS92515: External ON/OFF control

Part Number: TPS92515

Hello team,

Could you please let me know how to externally turn on/off TPS92515?

I'd like to know the solution other than controlling PWM pin.

For example, do you think the solutions below could work?:

1. Connect external FET to BOOT pin and control it to turn on/off TPS92515

2. Connect external FET to VCC pin and control it to turn on/off TPS92515

3. Connect external FET to COFF pin and control it to turn on/off TPS92515

Best regards,

Itoh

  • Hello Itoh,

The PWM pin is used for enable as well.  I'm not sure why you don't want to use this pin.

    1)  Boot is referenced to the switch node so this in not trivial.  It also causes a boot UVLO fault and then it tries to pull the SW node if the boot voltage is low.

    2)  I'm not sure what you mean, short VCC with a MOSFET? This will cause excess power dissipation in the TPS92515.

    3)  Coff only charges when the MOSFET is off.  It gets pulled low then allows the MOSFET to turn on.  Any loading on this pin will cause a frequency change.

    Best Regards,
