Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28063, UCC28064A
Hello,
is the UCC28063 pin-to-pin compatible to UCC28065 or UCC28064A?

Hello Holger,
Thank you for your interest in the UCC28063 PFC controller.
The UCC28063 is almost, but not quite, pin-to-pin compatible with the UCC28064A and -065 parts.
There are two major pin differences:
1. Pin 9 of the UCC28063 is PWMCNTL which can be used to enable/disable a down-stream converter. It was found that few customers used this function so in the -064A and -065, this pin has been redefined as BRST which sets a threshold level for entering burst mode.
2. Pin 4 of the UCC28063 is PHB which is used to enable/disable Phase-B of the PFC using an internal threshold. For more flexibility, the -064A and -065 keep the same pin name and basic function but allow the enable/disable threshold to be externally programmed.
Therefore, the external circuitry involving these two pins must be modified/accommodated when/if replacing the UCC28064A/065 with the UCC28063, and vice versa.
Regards,
Ulrich
