BQ76PL455EVM: BQ76PL455EVM

Part Number: BQ76PL455EVM

Hi Team,

I have connected battery pack to BQ EVM. I am not able to read correct voltage of cell1, after debugging I found that there is 70mv of difference between BAT0 and BAT0S. Also resistance between these two points was 244Kohm. Currently I have connected battery pack negative to BAT0. BAT0S is not connected to battery negative. so is there any need to externally short this two points(BAT0 and BAT0S) and is it safe to short these two points? are those points  internally connected? Nothing  is mentioned in data sheet regarding connection between this two points.

Regards,

Aniket.

  • Hi Aniket,

Without connecting BAT0S the cell 1 measurement will be affected because there is no low side reference for the ADC. BAT0S and BAT0 are typically connected using separate wires to the battery pack negative. This is to provide a separate current path for the cell sense and for powering the module to ensure that the current out of BAT0 does not cause an IR drop that is sensed by cell 1.

    Thanks,

    Geoff
