Hello,
We are experiencing an issue similar to this linked post with a short across pins 1 and 2. Our configuration is different with the MC34063 set up for boost mode converting 24V to 40V and the target output load is 100mA. I'm also measuring no oscillations from pin 1 on the scope while the circuit is active. Given that the output never reaches 40V before railing the current limit (1A) on our bench supply I suspect the comparator is always driving a high which leaves the issue somewhere with the oscillator. I've tried this config with two IC's now to the same effect so there must be something I'm overlooking. Any thoughts?
I was cautious to turn up the limit any further since it was shorting but can give it a try. These tests have all been performed with no load on the output. Here is a shot of the board, the ground plane is hidden for clarity.
