BQ35100EVM-795: Over consumption with no LOAD

Hi TI team,

I observe an strange over consumption without doing anything on board BQ35100EVM (no load and GE disable).

When I supplied the BQ35100EVM-795 to 3.6V, I observe an over consumption of 100mA. Also, I communicate with BQ35100 but I can't write into data flash.

Nothing

Didi you already observe that?

I will appreciate a feedback on this issue because I can't evaluate battery with this over consumption.

Hi Alexis.
Are you following the instructions in the evm user guide to set up the evm for evaluation? do you have the jumpers in all the right places? do you have extra ics to replace the one on the evm in case you are dealing with a bad ic?

Hi Onyx,

Yes jumper is all right places. We use only one cell, So juper is place as default:
J2 with the both jumper on 1S and J3 with jumper on 2S.
We can replace but I would like to sure that the over consomption come from IC BQ35100.
Do you know other think that could cause the over consomption.

At what point on the EVM are you measuring the current consumption and what mode are you running the device in? In EOS mode the current consumption is about 315uA so seeing 100mA is rather strange.

I don't know, it is my request if you can help me. I see 100mA whatever mode moreover as I say I see 100mA even if GE is disable. That why I am not sure this over current can provide from BQ35100.

I am trying to understand how you are measuring 100mA. What parts on your board do you have your ammeter. Can you share a picture of your set up.

Hi Onyx,

Finally, I replaced BQ35100 and over consumption disappear. So the 100mA current came from BQ35100 but I don't know why.
