Is it possible to feed the ILIM with an analog voltage instead of using a resistor? I would like the TPS16630 to be controlled via a DAC.
Thanks in advance!

Hello.
I need to be able to change the current threshold just once in a while, like a customer setting.
Can I use a "digital potentiometer" or will a source-sink current DAC be more suitable?
In the datasheet I see no graph when a capacitive load is connected "on the fly" i.e. when Vout is already present.
Does that mean the IC is not suitable for that?
Also, I was looking at the TPS1663, not the TPS2663.
Hello Magnus,
TPS1663 can operate when voltage is already present on Output. if only few (<4) values of current limit are required, multiple resistors can be connected on ILIM pin with signal switches. You can refer to schematic on Page 12 of the TPS16630-32EVM user's guide : http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slvubi9/slvubi9.pdf
Hello Magnus,
For configuring current limit with software, you can use resistors with an analog switch (Similar to SN74LVC1G3157 or SN74LV4052A).
The current limit can also be changed by forcing current through external source into RLIM resistor. To change the current limit from 0.6 to 6A, a current source of 16 to 160uA would be required. The capacitance on ILIM pin should not exceed 40pF.
Did you find markings on both devices to be same for TPS16630-32EVM?
Hello.
Thank you for the good answer. Yes, the markings are identical.
/Magnus
Hello Magnus,
For preproduction samples, marking on both devices in PTPS16630, the production release of these devices will have an appropriate marking.
But the channel 1 of EVM has PTPS16630 device while channel 2 of EVM has PTPS16632 device.
