REF5010: What will happen if 20mA current flows into the Vout of REF5010

Part Number: REF5010

Hi team,

Customer is using REF5010, but under some case, there may have 20mA current flows into the Vout of REF5010.

Will this cause permanent damge to REF5010 or not?

Customer can't use doide to prevent the reverse current because of accuracy requirement. Do you have any suggestion for this situation?

Looking forward to your reply. Thank you,

Marc

  • Hi Marc,

The REF5010 has an absolute maximum rating of -30 mA sink current. Although the device will be functioning and not damaged, the -20 mA is violating our recommended operating conditions (-10mA). What this means is that anytime the device is out of recommended conditions, we do not guarantee any electrical specifications.

Are these cases short and infrequent where the reference voltage does not matter?

  • Hi Ethan,

Yes, this is case is short and infrequent.

Customer don't expect electrical specifications under this condition, they just want the device is not damaged.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Marc
