TPS23754EVM-383: Input DC 24V adapter

Part Number: TPS23754EVM-383
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23756EVM

Dear TI,

I'm TPS23754EVM-383 board testing.
Which point need to be adjusted to debug DC external input?

  • Hi BJ,

Before providing further guidance, can you give me more details on the issue you are debugging? Are you intending to use the PPD pin for low Vin OR-ing before the PD controller, or using APD for OR-ring at the primary side of the converter, after the adapter?

    Thanks,

  • Dear Tom,

I using APD for OR-ring at the primary side of the converter, after the adapter.

  • Hi BJ,

The simple answer would be to adjust the APD voltage divider resistors to hit the rising threshold at the lower input voltage, however significant changes would need to be made to the power stage to allow wide Vin operation.

Instead, I suggest looking at the TPS23756EVM for an example of a Wide Vin Active Clamp Forward design. If 12V is necessary, I suggest looking at PMP6659 & modifying it according to the guidance found in www.ti.com/.../slva305c.pdf for your design requirements.

    Thanks,
