BQ24123: Is there a spreadsheet that helps with calculating passive component values?

Hello,

My customer is asking if there is an XLS tool that can help them determine the resistor values that control the charging current rate. They have a field failure and they are concerned about the temperature.

Their end goal is to perform a type of tolerance analysis in order to prove that the failure they had in field comes from the cell and it is not due to charging under high temperature.

Do we have anything that can help them with this?

Unfortunately there is no design spreadsheet for this device.

ICHARGE = KISET1xVISET1 / (RSNS *RISET1) where KISET1*VISET1 = (1000 V/A * 1V )+/-10%. The resistors are typically 1% or better.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the help! Would the TEMPSENSE tool be helpful for this for my customer? I unfortunately have a loaner laptop and cannot install the software to try it out. My customer said that it needs to have an EVM connected to work. Is that correct?

The TEMPSENSE spreadsheet might be helpful.

The BQ24123 is a standalone IC and does not need software.

I can't find it. I forwarded to the apps person who supports the device in which that is referenced and got no response. I fear it has been removed from the website.
