LM5066I: How to use TI SAA TOOLS (USB-to-GPIO Interface Adapter) to communicate with LM5066I

Hi Team,

Greetings! I am local FAE supporting telecom. I was using LM5066I EVM in lab and wants to know how to realize communications using SAA TOOLS in SMBus & I2C & SAA Debug Tool. My test based on below. However, the SAA tools just kept NACK when i was trying to get bits back from 15h (ADR0~ADR2 are all 0).

My questions are:

Do you know how to realize IIC andPMBUS COMMAND through TI's USB-to-GPIO tools?
Do you know how to realize IIC and PMBUS COMMAND through PI-COMMANDER?

I never tried other than the FTDI Dongle which comes with the EVM. Let me check and get back to you early next week.

I am able to communicate with the device using Aardvark Adapter. However, I am yet to find out the issue with TI's USB-to-GPIO tool.

What exactly you are trying to do? Most of things can be managed with FTDI dongle which comes with the EVM.

Hi Rakesh,

I am trying to use USB-TO-GPIO to do IIC communication with LM5066I. Since IIC communication is utilized by START+ADDRESS+COMMAND+CONTENT+STOP by only pull-down CLK and DATA lines. I think by using SAA tools, it must be simple to realize IIC communication through USB-TO-GPIO tools. Please see below GUI.

When using SAA tools, USB-TO-GPIO will pull-down DATA while issuing CLK to indicate STOP, ADDRESS, and COMMAND. If LM5066I supports IIC communication, it should be able to witness START, and ACK the last bit of ADDRESS and COMMAND in order to indicate MASTER MCU inside the tools the SLAVE is presented and ready. Doing WRITE and READ is thereafter proceeded.

Do you know the reason why USB-TO-GPIO is not able to communication with digital core of LM5066I? Even though it does not support use GUI, it should support SAA toolds through BYTE-TO-BYTE IIC communication.

I was able to communicate with Aardvark Adapter and FTDI dongle but so far no success with TI's USB-to-GPIO tool.
