TPS68470: Termination requirement for TPS68470 buck pins

Part Number: TPS68470

I am using TPS68470 in one of our design, i am not using Buck from this PMIC.

Any termination guidelines  if Buck is not used. Specifically these  G7 and H6 pins.

  • Hi,

Please ensure that Bit 0 (ENABLE field) of register 0x48 (VDCTL) is always set to 0 to disable the core buck regulator. This bit's default value on reset is 0.

    When the buck is disabled:

    • H6 (CORE_FB) can be left floating or connected to ground
    • G7 (CORE_SW) should be left floating
    • H7 (CORE_GND) should still connect to ground

    Thanks,

    Gerard

  • Hi Gerard,

Will there be any issue if Bit0 of register 0x48 is not set to 0? We are reusing FW between the design and hence the question.

    Thanks

    Mallari

  • Hi Mallari,

This bit disables the output of core buck regulator and powers down the internal control circuitry for this regulator. If this bit is not set to 0, the buck control circuit will turn on and attempt to regulate even if the converter is not connected or used in the application, resulting in unnecessary current consumption.

    Thanks,

    Gerard
