EM1402EVM: EMB1499Q

Part Number: EM1402EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EMB1499Q, BQ76PL455A-Q1

Hi,

I have some questions about EM1402EVM and EMB1499Q.

1) (Image below). In the bq7694 datasheet there are some design considerations and i don't know if any is used in the EV1402EVM.

2) In the EM1402EVM datasheet says "Multi-cell charge and discharge capability". I don't know if means that EVM can do multi-cell charge and discharge at the same time or simply can do one charge or discharge at the same time, because there is one EMB1499Q.

3) Can EM1402EVM do active and passive balancing at the same time of two cells?

Thanks.

  • Hi Angel,

    Thanks for your questions!

I have provided my answers in a list below:

    1. For the EM1402EVM, please follow the design recommendations of each individual part within the EVM (follow the design considerations for BQ76PL455A-Q1, etc.). This will allow the best results for each individual device, making the system as a whole work properly.
    2. Only one cell can be charged (or discharged) at a time. This line in the document (SNOU143) is referring to the multi-cell nature of a battery pack.
    3. The EVM was not designed for active and passive balancing at the same time.

Let me know if this answers your questions!

    [EDIT: formatted list]
