TPS7A8300: Is TPS7A8300 Vdo character similar as TPS7A83A?

Part Number: TPS7A8300
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A83A

Hi Team,

Is it OK to assume that the dropout voltage characteristics of TPS7A83A and TPS7A8300 are the same?

My customer asked that

The dropout voltage graph described in the TPS7A8300 data sheet is difficult to understand,

and the TPS7A83A was easy to understand. If the characteristics were the same,

I would like to refer to the TPS7A83A.

Sorry for the urgent request, can you answer ASAP?

Thanks

Best regards,

Shidara

  • Hi Shidara,

Can your customer elaborate on what questions they have regarding the TPS7A8300?
The dropout voltage is listed in the datasheet as follows:

Figures 13-16 also show graphs which describe the dropout voltage for given conditions.

Let me know what questions your customer has and we can work through them.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Stephen-san

Thank you so much for the prompt reply.

My customer needs below graph of TPS7A8300 because the datasheet shows

only 2A Iout of pin point data.

    Could you support this?

    Thanks

    Best regards,

    Shidara

  • Hi Shidara,

TPS7A8300 datasheet figure 16 gives the dropout (with BIAS) at 500mA.
TPS7A8300 datasheet figure 17 gives the dropout (with BIAS) at 2A.

Due to the internal pass element being a MOSFET, the dropout voltage is linear as you can see in TPS7A8300 datasheet figures 12 or 13.
You can use then use the data points in figures 16 and 17 to give the plot similar to the TPS7A83A datasheet.

The dropout values are not exactly the same between the two devices, so I would not interchange the dropout plots in my analysis of the TPS7A8300.

    Thanks,
