Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
In reaction to a customer request, I have created my own spreadsheet based on the datasheet for calculating the compensation of the TPS54541. The customer has particular parameters, but I decided to use the example in the datasheet (section 8.2.1.1) : Vout = 3.3V, Iout=5A, along with the other parameters listed. Here are the results - notice how my spreadsheet is reasonably close to the slvc452e.zip offered in the product page, but Webench has substantially different values with exception to Ccomp:
My spreadsheet:
Rcomp = 6.5kOhm
Ccomp = 5.1nF
Chf = 120pF
TPS54360-361FAMILY_CALC_TOOL_REVE.xls
Rcomp = 6.8kOhm
Ccomp = 4.7nF
Chf = 100pf
Webench
Rcomp = 27.4kOhm
Ccomp = 4.3nF
Chf = 8.2pf
The real problem is that lab tests show better performance with the Webench solution; we want to understand the criteria behind Webench so we can explain the decisions made on the design. Can you explain why the difference and please list the equations used in Webench?
Thank you!
