TPS63036: Frequency range for synchronization

Dears

My customer would like to use the external Frequency synchronization, but the range for external SYNC is 2.2 - 2.6MHz, the internal switching rage is 1.8- 2.2.

Customer want to know if they can use 2 MHz for external Frequency synchronization? Because 2MHz can working internally, but way external can not? and there system have 2Mhz but not have 2.2Mhz.

Hi Jun,

sorry for the delay.

The device works fine with 2MHz external.

Apperently there is a mix-up in the datasheet. The oscillator frequency and the range for synchronization should be the same.

I have highlighted that and it will be updated in the next iteration.

Thanks, and by the way, if set the self working frequency at 2MHz, and also set the external SYNC frequency at 2MHz, how much output voltage spike with have? this might related with the frequency variation and the SYNC method we have used inside? is there more details?

The output voltage spike is like a overshoot or undershoot when changing the switching frequency from internal to external? or means the output voltage
Disturbance when change the frequency.

Jun,

according to design, the PLL locks in about 100us to the external signal. Due to happening so 'slow' there are no over/undershoots expected.
