ULN2803A: output current curve under different duty cycle of control signal.

Part Number: ULN2803A

Hi ,

My customer is evaluating ULN2803A. it will be used to drive 8 electronic valve.  customer need below curve, but I can't find from  our datasheet,

If TI do have this curve, please kindly help me locate it. if not, would you please suggest :

1. if multi channels open simultaneously, can  all the channels  output the max current without impacting by other channels?

2. how duty cycle  impact the output current?  how does TI describe this SPEC?

3.If need to support bigger current, is it possible to combine 2 chs , like 500mA+500mA

4.if not, any recommendation for bigger current(750mA) application.

  • Hi Yue,

The ULN devices in our portfolio have similar characteristics. This device is actually very similar so the ULN2003 which is where I believe you acquired that graphs you attached. You can use the same graph to estimate the expect behavior of the ULN2803. Using more channels and working at a higher duty cycle will decrease the amount of output current you can provide. If needed you can combine the output of 2 or more channels to increase the current supplied to your load.
