TPS92513: Range of operation

Part Number: TPS92513

The TPS92513 spec implies that it would allow an operation with a 10V to 30V input, and with an analog control voltage (IADJ) setting an output current from 100mA to 800mA. Can I produce a single board that would allow a 6V LED to be driven with an input voltage that changes (slowly) from 10V to 30V and variably set any current within that range, or does being able to operate at 10V input and 800mA output limit the ability to operate at 30V input with 100mA output?

  • Hello,

The TPS92513 can do this, just want to make sure the design stays in continuous conduction mode.  See section 8.3.4 on page 11,12:  "Analog dimming is also most accurate when the device is in continuous conduction mode (CCM). If the highest accuracy possible
is desired during analog dimming, size the inductor so that 1/2 the peak-to-peak inductor ripple is less than the
minimum LED current to remain in CCM."

Iadj has a 10:1 dimming range, 100 mA to 800 mA is 8:1 so it's within range.  As for varying the input voltage, they are designed for that.

    Best Regards,
