LMG1020: shortest pulse width

Part Number: LMG1020

Hi,

We have tried using this part to drive an epc8004 as fast as possible.  Data sheets indicate that 1ns should be achievable.  However, we find that 1.3ns is the fastest useable pulse.  Below this, the pulse has jitter and/or skips pulses.  At 1ns, pulses disappear.  All pulses measured at the output of the lmg1020.  The output resistors are both 1 Ohm.

Is there anyway to improve this?  1ns would be acceptable.  800ps great.

  • Hi Ken,

Thanks for reaching out on e2e on lmg1020.

Can you reshare the attachment waveform pulses of the issue your having. It seems that it did not attach properly.

Are you using 1020 to pulse a laser diode? what is the lead length of the laser diode?

Check out figure 13 that highlights the laser lead length effects in the app note link below.

    Thanks,
