BQ4050: bqstudio device compatible issue

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO

Hello,

We recently bought EV2400 and try to do some experiment on one board which has bq4050 on it. We are trying to connect EVM2400 to board via SMBus.

But when we open bqstudio, it is not detecting any device. When we select device manually then it gives warning message even though board is connected or not.

This is happening with all the device in software.

So I am not sure what is the issue here. I went through similar scenario but did not help out on forum.

Please review and let me know what can be done here.

  • Hello Aman,

I would advice you check all your connections to make sure they're set as according to the BQ4050EVM User Guide and EV2400 User Guides.

That prompt is shown whenever either your EV2400 or BQ4050 is not connecting properly. To make sure that your EV2400 is making connection click OK on the prompt you received, if the EV2400 is connected, it should show up on the DashBoard which is on the left of the screen.

If your EV2400 is connected, then it's probable that your BQ4050 is the one not connecting properly. First, I would advice you to check all connections as I mentioned above. If all seems to be set-up correctly, the issue could be due to the device being in SHUTDOWN mode. To WAKE your device, you would only have to short temporarily BAT+ with PACK+ to start the initiation sequence. For more detailed steps in how to set-up/wake your device, read the BQ4050EVM User Guide(Section 2.5.2).

Once your device is connected properly, bqStudio should open directly to the DashBoard without having to select the device.

    Best Regards,

    Luis Hernandez Salomon
