TPS546D24A: Vin-SW voltage stress(transient)

Part Number: TPS546D24A

Hi,

We only have a transient negative voltage -5V(<10ns) at SW, I want to check if we have the transient spec for PVin-SW.

  • Hi Feng,

As discussed over email, the -5V for <10ns for Pvin-SW node is ok.  This negative spike will cause the body diode of the HSFET to turn on which is not an issue unless you are intentionally forcing large current through it. From the negative spikes on the PVIN-SW that are caused by the parasitics in the layout, it should be ok. The main concern is that the PVIN-SW positive spike should not exceed 24V (abs max in the datasheet). No concern with the negative spike even if it is for example -5V for 10ns.

    Regards,

    Gerold
