BQ25790: Connection of 4S battery balance port to IC

Part Number: BQ25790

HI,

I am designing a new product of battery management system using 4S lipo battery pack and BQ25790. For this I have confusion about connection of balance port of battery pack to this IC.

Please suggest where I will connect the 5 pin of the balance port of the 4S battery pack.

    HI Rajesh,

    BQ25790 does not provide cell balancing.  Can you provide your battery part number?  TI may provide a compatible cell balancing.

    Thanks for your reply.

    I want to use 4S LiPo battery (3.7+3.7+3.7+3.7 = 14.8 V total). At present its part number is not decided because of current requirement is under calculation. But for reference I have attached one image of 4S battery

    .This kind of batteries have charging balancing port. Please suggest what i have to do.

    Or

    can I use BQ25790 to charge this battery without any problem by connecting between BATP and BATN?

    Rajesh,

    I am not certain about the battery connector.  I am assuming it is for cell balancing.  I do not support the cell balancers.  I can confirm that the 790 BATP and BATN are for the positive and ground side of the battery pack, respectively and NOT for cell balancing.
