TPS65150: compensation network calculation

Hi,

I'm going to develop a board using TPS65150. I need to calculate the compensation network for the boost converter, but I was unable to find the modulator gain and the transconductance error amplifier (COMP) gain on the datasheet. Without these I cannot estimate the loop gain; where can I find these parameters?

Hello Battista,

Recommended compensation network values are given in table 1 in the datasheet. We recommend to stay with these recommendations.

Hello Liaqat,

thank you very much. I saw the table, but I'd prefer to calculate the loop gain by myself (because my boost current is very low, less than 60 mA, so I decided to use a 22 uH inductance to reduce ripple).

I don't understand why TI doesn't declare these parameters, very useful for the designer. Anyway, I'll check the board on the bench.

Hello Battista,

Yes, measuring gain/phase margin on the actual board (with 22uH inducrtor) will be the best way to ensure a reliable design and that is how I have done it for this device.

Hi Liaqat,

Thank you, but I don't understand why TI doesn't declare these parameters. A rough aproximation for the loop gain is very useful in my opinion. Anyway, I'll tune the loop on the bench.
