BQ28Z610-R1: temperature calibration for golden image only or for every part?

Part Number: BQ28Z610-R1

Hello,

we use the bq28z610-r1 fuel gauge in one of our products and take at the moment some steps towards production.

This question came up while doing so:

Based on the fuel gauge datasheet the NTC pullup has a a high tolerance (14.4 ... 21.6 kR) and therefor the temperature accuracy as well. To get a better temperatur accuracy we will carry out a temperature calibration for the "golden image".

The question now is:

  • is this good enough for every fuel gauge which get the "golden image" (= one time temperature calibration)

- or -

  • do we have to recalibrate each fuel gauge - in terms of temperature (= multiple time temperature calibration)

Best regards

  • Hello Andre,

Usually most customers will calibrate the voltage, current, temperature for a batch of gauges and then use the average calibration values (if they aren't too deviated) to use in the final golden image to program all the gauges. The temperature accuracy is not as critical as the voltage and current for gauging.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
