UCD90120A: Programming Assistance

Hi Team,

Need your expertise on our customer's query. Posting on their behalf:

1. I have Xeltek SP7500 universal programmer. Can I program UCD90120A using this programmer?

2. Is there a way to export program form working sequencer or to convert file in a format which my programmer can understand?

Hello

1. You have check the vender of Xeltek to see whether they can support UCD90120A.

2. Yes, Customer can always export the setting from a live device via TI Fusion GUI. Please refer below videos;

The below two formats are the recommended by TI for the production programming.

All the programming of UCD90120A is via I2C bus. so customer can program the device as long as it has a i2c host.

Hello Yihe,

Many thanks for your helpful inputs! Our customer managed to connect and read UCD901290A in Xeltek's SP7500 programmer. However they couldn't extract actual program of good device. It might be due to protected device or something else that we're not sure about.

Whatever exported from a good device does not work when they load it in a new UCD90120A. Do you have a recommended procedure to convert .svf file into .hex file as our customer does have good program's copy in .svf format and their program doesn't support .svf format?

Hello

svf file is the vector format which is used by the JTAG programmer. We do not recommend JTAG programming since it is not a industrial standard. The interpretation of the svf file is totally up to the JTAG vendor.

TI recommend I2C/PMBus programming.

There is no method to convert the svf to hex unfortunately. As mentioned in the previous post, customer can use USB-TO-GPIO dongle + Fusion GUI to export hex file. Please go this route.

What is the programming interface of the SP7500?
