TPS54360B: Could TPS54360B achieve 24V to 12V/2A application?

Part Number: TPS54360B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54360

Hi teams

Customer planing to use TPS54360B as second source of RT6323 in their new project.

They need to convert 24V to 12V/2A. I wondering to know are this device could handle this operation condition?

I noticed that all data and reference diagram is for 5V output application and I have doubt about 12Vout application.

One more further questions a we often list a output current spec in the datasheet title without output voltage condition.

How could we know is it work for the output voltage we want? Althrough it most likely won't trigger the overcurrent protection but with higer output voltage and higher output power level may lead to thermal issue.

  • Hi Gabriel,

1.It's OK for TPS54360B. You can use WEBENCH TPS54360 for quick evaluation.(TPS54360B has additional coating on top layer of the IC for better reliability in high voltage operation. They are same for almost all the spec.) TPS54360 WEBENCH

      2. Yes, we usually only list the typical output voltage like 3.3V/5V.  You can use WEBENCH for fast evaluation about different output voltage. You can also use calculation tools to evaluate the power loss of IC. If current is fine, higher output power will limited by high ambient temperature and switching frequency of buck converter.
