BQ34Z100-G1: Appropriate charge/discharge tool

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

We are working on a design to monitor larger lead-acid and Lithium batteries, typically 100ah and up, 12-48v. For learning, we have been working with ~100ah 12v batteries. Getting good learning cycles has been a challenge. My question relates to the tools we are using for charging and discharging, which we are trying to perform at C/20.

We are using three stage chargers, not lab power supply-type devices. For discharge, we are using resistance elements that can be ganged to reach a particular current draw.

Is there an issue with using such simple tools during the learning phase?

Thanks in Advance!
