BQ20Z95: Correction of Ra-table for 2P cells when updating Chemistry profile

Part Number: BQ20Z95

 Hi all!

I am intersting in the process of Chemistry updating procedure. Basic information is described in appropriate docs and the question is about Ra-tables values.

As me understand from the docs, Ra-tables synchronously updated with new Chemistry array loaded to gauge eeprom. Normally chemistry data characterised for SINGLE cell, correct?

If pack configuration is other then 1P, say 2P, the value of actual cell's impedance would be less in comparison to 1P almost by factor of 2.

I understand these tables will be updated after some charge/discharge cycles to correct values, but what about the very first initial learning cycle?

1. Should Ra values be manually corrected for number of parallel cells?

2. Are they corrected automatically in bqEVSW while updating the chemistry?

3. If they not corrected, does it mean first learning cycle would contain big error in Qmax and FCC calculations?

  • Hi Igor,

    1. No. The gauge is capable of deducing that out itself. When you do a learning cycle the values computed first are unfiltered, which means they represent the exact values computed by the IT algorithm.
    2. Yes, but if you update chemistry after an LC, you will need to repeat a learning cycle. To do this, reset update status to 00, send the reset command and enable IT again.
    3. Yes, that is correct.
