PTH08T220W: -sense and +sense pins

Do the sense pins have to be connected as close to the load as possible (it seems like the datasheet is suggesting it on page 2)? For example my Vout is 5V and the other side of my load is GND, can I just connect +sense to any +5V net and -sense through a via to my ground plane? Are there any special considerations I need to make during layout?

    The device will regulate to the connection points of Sense+ and Sense-. These connection points can be anywhere on your 5V net and GND, however connecting both sense lines at your load will ensure the most accurate regulation at your load.
