TDA4: CAN on Linux - nothing on the BUS - TRCV

Hello,

We are trying to send/receive some signals on the CAN bus, using the Main CAN (J27), and it doesn’t seem to work.

We are using the PSDK 7.07 version and added the patch mentioned here to get the CAN running, but we still didn’t manage to see anything on the bus.

Can you please let me know what to do in order to debug the issue and make it work.

Additional info: the PCB version is PCB PRO C0 79E3 (A).- Also here I wasn't able to find the board schematic for this specific PCB.

Hi Daniel,

1. Can you send me the patch on top of the SDK which you are using? I can try to replicate this at my end.

2. Also, do you mean the latest SDK 7.03?

3. Is this running on a custom board or TDA4 EVM?

Hi Karan,

1. the patch is /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/791/0001_2D00_dts_2D00_Add_2D00_MCAN0_2D00_and_2D00_MCAN2_2D00_support_2D00_in_2D00_linux.patch

2. the SDK version that we have used is 7.07

3. we are running the software on TDA4 EVM.

Some additional information is that the loop-back is working properly, but still by monitoring the J27 pins with a CANcase/PCAN or osciloscope, nothing is present.

Hi Daniel,

Quick question on SDK version, there is no SDK7.07, are you using the one here - https://www.ti.com/tool/download/PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-J721E ?

Somehow then the transceiver and/or Pinmux configuration is not correct.

Hi Karan,

sorry for the confusion. The PSDK I have is psdk_rtos_auto_j7_07_00_00_11. So I guess it is version 7.00

Good morning,

I have an update.

After rebuilding the boot with the patch from above it seems now the CAN is working and we are able to monitor the signals after the transceiver. Probably something went wrong on the first build.
