XDS TCKRET and adaptive clocking, not need for 6437?
Hi All,
I would like to ask a question on DM6437 and XDS560 connection.
From http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS_Target_Connection_Guide, I read that XDS560 emulator’s RTCK/TCK_RET/TCLKRTN pin are needed only when adaptive clocking is used, and that adaptive clocking is a feature of TI’s ARM core device.
Does this mean for DM6437 this RTCK/TCK_RET/TCLKRTN pin is not needed?
And on EVM6437, this signal us
1. First connect to mux/demux U539
2. Then connect to the output of OR gate U37
3. But not connected to DSP.
In reply to Question on JTAG return clock connection Bernie Thompson has explained to me that the OR gate SN74LVC1G32 in EVM6437 is used as a buffer for the return clock. But from the TI wiki information cited above, it appears to me that for this particular DM6437 device, there is no need for the TCKRET signal at all.
Is that true? May I simply tie JTAG head’s pin 9 (TCKRET) and pin 10 (TCK) together, since TCKRET has no used for emulating DM6437?
Thanks,
Zheng
