DRA821U: CPSW5G Enabling in u-boot

We need to investigate details to implement the feature in u-boot. 

Please give us your guidance how to develop CPSW5G in u-boot.

No, it's not possible at the moment as there is no such plan. It will involve enabling virtual MAC driver and EthFW boot from Uboot.

Does the customer board have USB ? USB DFU boot can be considered as an alternative.

Ther's no USB from custome board. And DFU-Util does not work for huge filesystem. It had to be fixed by customer.

DFU-Util works for only tiny rootfs size. and it takes 30~40 mins to download 1.2GB rootfielsystem via DFU-Util.

Please give us the starting point to investigate to activate CPSW5G in u-boot.

Customer need to know how much task would be reuqired to wake up MCU2_0 and download Ethernet FW in u-boot, and then emulating FW driver. and so on....

Hi Jack,

I checked internally. Customer needs to port Virtual MAC driver from Linux to U-boot and enable remoteproc loading of Ethernet Firmware to MCU 2_1. Please take a look at linux/drivers/net/ethernet/ti/j721e-cpsw-virtmac.c for reference.

This activity cannot be supported by TI on SDK and customer will have to do their own porting.

Other option is to use a USB-Ethernet adapter to do the booting

Do they need to port the Virtual MAC Driver even if only one CPSW5G port is used in the U-boot?

As an another question about USB-Ethernet, Is it currently supported on u-boot for now?

Yes, because the alternative is to write a native CPSW 5G driver on Linux from scratch

I'm supporting this customer with Jack and need more detailed guide how CPSW5G can be used in the u-boot.

As I understand, as the remoteproc already integrated in U-Boot of SDK v7.3, customer just need to port Virtual MAC driver to U-boot and then enable remoteproce loading of Ethernet Firmware to MCU 2_1 by referring below. Right?
