AM4372: Next SDK release

Part Number: AM4372

Hi Support Team,

SDK 07.03 for AM437X was released in July this year.
What is the plan for SDK release in the future (within a year)?

According to TI HP, a major version upgrade including uboot, kernel, etc. is planned once a year,
and a minor version upgrade is planned every quarter.
If the last two digits of SDK 7.03 start with 03 and the last two digits indicate minor version upgrades,
is it correct to say that minor version upgrades have already been done several times
since the uboot and kernel were updated?

The intention of the question is to avoid using the SDK immediately after a major version update,
considering the risk of unknown problems.
Also, if the last two digits indicate a minor version upgrade, then based on the past release history,
I think there are no plans for a minor version upgrade of SDK 7.03.
Is this understanding correct, or is the next SDK 08.xx release scheduled for 2022?

  • Hi Kanae,

SDK 07.03 for AM437X was released in July this year.
What is the plan for SDK release in the future (within a year)?

The current plan is to release Linux SDK v8.x by end of 2021, which is based on kernel 2021 LTS v5.10.

If the last two digits of SDK 7.03 start with 03 and the last two digits indicate minor version upgrades,
is it correct to say that minor version upgrades have already been done several times
since the uboot and kernel were updated?

Yes, the last two digits indicate minor version upgrades, still use the same kernel and UBoot LTS versions, but have sync-up with the upstream updates, and bug fixes and new features/functions implemented by TI.

I think there are no plans for a minor version upgrade of SDK 7.03.
Is this understanding correct, or is the next SDK 08.xx release scheduled for 2022?

Yes, there is no plan to release more SDK v7.xx for AM437x. The next SDK release would v8.x in a few months.
