TMS320DM8168: TMS320DM8168CCYGA2

Dear All,

We have made a customized board based on TMS320DM8168CCYGA2. This board is able to record Dual Channel Videos with audio, other data from dual UART, dual Ethernet, GPMC without FAN. We have used a heat sink for dissipating the heat. Heat Sink is connected to Processor Surface using Thermal Pad. When Playback of recorded video file is done on HDMI, Processor is becoming unresponsive(Stuck) within few minutes. We have measured the surface temperature of the processor at this time. It is around 31 Degree C.

Same playback works without any issue when forced cooling is done using FAN with Full Speed. In this state, Surface Temperature of processor was about 29 Degree C.

In our requirement, we need to have Conduction based cooling. As described above, recording alone will not have any issue with current Heat Sink. But when we have a playback, processor becomes unresponsive even though temperature is well below the Junction Temperature(105 Degree C)

Please suggest us a solution to address this issue.
