Hi Team,

Our customer would like to know at what frame rate (FPS) can they play videos on TMDSEVM437X, ie AM4378 SoC. They also what to know how to monitor the frame rate values while playing demo videos on the EVM.

Could you please share more information on what you are trying to benchmark? Is the customer trying to understand graphics performance or how fast CPU can perform encode/decode?

Here is the customer's response.

We need and plan to play videos on our custom board with AM4378. So, we need to specify multimedia performance parameters (by encode/decode with codecs eg. MPEG4, H.264) for AM4378. There is a documentation "">www.staroceans.org/.../sitara-linuxsdk-sdg-06.00.00.00.pdf" which has performance and benchmark values for AM37x EVM on page 64 and for AM335x EVM on page 65. I don't know if this document is up to date and if these values are valid for AM4378 as well. Is there such a document that we can use for AM4378?

Hi Danilo,

We do not have HW encode/decode on AM437x and the customer has to use the ARM based plugins for encode/decode. We do not have any latest numbers for AM437x SW encode/decode and my recommendation for the customer would be to benchmark them on AM437x. The ARM plugins are not created by TI and I am not sure if they have any performance optimization.
