[FAQ] TDA4VM: Clarification on DMIPS calculation for A72

Part Number: TDA4VM

-1-

Are you aware of any threads where calculation of DMIPS for an algorithm is discussed for TDA4VM ?

-2-

I see in TRM  “One dual-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A72 microprocessor subsystem at up to 2.0 GHz and up to 24K DMIPS”

24K DMIPS is for both A72 cores together right?

-3-

I see that for A72 from Arm specs it is 7.3 DMIPS/MHz, so TDA4VM configuring at 2GHz, it should be 7.3x2000(2GHz=2000MHz)x2(2 A72 cores)=29,200 DMIPS/Mhz= 29.2K DMIPS/MHz , please clarify

    The numbers in the TRM i.e. 24K DMIPS/MHz for dual core A72 are based on running Drystrone benchmark on the silicon.

    ~6K DMIPS/MHz for A72

    Dual core A72 running at 2GHz => 6 x 2 x 2 GHz => 24 K DMIPS/MHz.

    ARM does not publish these numbers in the spec, can you send me the source for this? There is definitely some error with this data.

    Regards
