AM437x Single DDR Routing

Hi,

Our custom board with AM437x uses a single DDR but all TI reference designs that we could find use more than one DDR. Is there a specific reason for that? Do you recommend using multiple DDRs vs. single?

Also, do you have a reference design or a document that shows the routing to a single DDR3 chip? It would save us a lot of trouble trying to customize the DDR routing. Thanks.

  • No, there is no reason, other than most publicly available designs used DDR4 and needed 2 devices for the 32-bit interface.  You can consult the AM437x datasheet for DDR layout and design guidelines for each memory type.  See section 5.12.8.2

    Regards,
