TMDS243GPEVM: sysconfig crash java.lang.NullPointerException

I have been suffering with frequent SysConfig java.lang.NullPointerException crashes. Once this happens, I cannot use SysConfig. The only way I have found to fix the problem is to create a new work area, and import my projects to the new work area. Sometimes this approach does not work. This java.lang.NullPointerException bug is causing me to lose significant amounts of time. Is there a fix for it? Is there a better way of recovering or fixing it?

I am running Code Composer Studio version: 11.2.0.00007

I am running SysConfig version 1.12.1

Hi Paul,

What host OS are you running on?

Can you also provide the Eclipse error log in <WORKSPACE FOLDER DIR>/.metadata/.log?

My host is running Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS.

Hopefully, the .metadata/.log file is successfully attached.

I can't seem to access the posted .log file. Can you perhaps zip the file first and then attach the zip?

I accidentally deleted the workspace, so I will attach it next time it happens. It seems to be frequent problem, so I expect a repeat within a day or two.

I am still unable to access the file. How are you attaching the file? Have you seen the below FAQ?

My work system is: Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS.

I am at work right now, and my home system is Ubuntu 18.?.? LTS. The .log file came from my home system.

Ubuntu 18.04LTS should be fine assuming you installed all the required dependencies.

Besides sysconfig not working, do any other views not work like Resource Explorer or App Center?

Ki,

I attempted to test Resource Explorer and the App Center, but Code Composer Studio would not come up. I tried logging out/in, without success. I tried reboot, without success. I tried re-installing CCS; without success. I switched to a different workspace and CCS, Resource Explorer, and the App Center all worked fine. The workspace with the original sysConfig problem is now in a state where CCS will not come up.

The workspace certainly sounds like it is getting corrupted. The logs indicate an issue with the jxbrowser within CCS. jxbrowser is used by various views in CCS like SysConfig, Resource Explorer, ROV, etc...

What desktop environment are you using with Ubuntu?

Next time it happens, can you try deleting the jxbrowser cache for CCS? To do this, Close CCS and then browse t the below directory:

<CCS INSTALL DIR>/ccs/eclipse/configuration

And delete the whole .jxbrowser.bin folder and start CCS again.
